My story on starting up this website

The yak wool is considered 20% warmer than merino wool and cashmere. It is as strong as cashmere and it is hand picked by nomad herders eliminating animal cruelty, as the wool and down are shed naturally every spring. But the amount of the naturally shed fiber is so small relative to the size of the animal resembling bisons: barely 2 pounds, and that is why it is one of the rarest and precious fibers.

Hi, my name is Zaya. I moved to Wisconsin in 2018 after my marriage. When winter came, it was my first ever winter experience in the Great Lakes region: it was so cold and snowy.

The Wisconsin winter was so cold that I desperately needed my good old pair of double-layered warm mittens; a pair of hats of MONGOLIAN YAK DOWN – a new kind of super fiber, considered warmer than cashmere to be shipped sooner to me. I have been using them for past 5 years and know on my experience that they are hypoallergenic and super warm, yet so thin and compact that I could simply put them in my little purse or crammed into my winter coat pocket, still with no pilings.

I missed their feel soft for touch just like my lightweight and breathable cashmere shawl. These thin but super warm cashmere-shawls are not bulky at all and they are super handy for any occasion as a daily accessory or an luxury addition to your small black dress for night-outs. All of my winter accessories are made of natural fiber HAND PICKED by nomad-herders, of only NATURAL COLORS free of dyes and chemicals and are extremely durable with super quality thin fibers. With my academic and professional background in environmental conservation, socially and environmentally responsible production has always been an important dimension for my sustainable choice.

As I had a hard time of finding good quality hats and scarves at reasonable costs, I decided to ask my family to ship me my winter gears. The most I could find was from Alpaca or merino wool which make me itchy. As to alpaca wool from camelid family, to be honest, I prefer nicely processed quality-camel wool garments from Mongolia.

For millenia, the nomads have been co-existing with their nature and living sustainably and self sufficiently. By virtue of fate, Mongolians know how to produce warm clothing from natural fibers from their livestock. As every Mongolian nomad herder would have a herd of 5 main livestock species: a few hundred heads of sheep, another few hundred of goats, some cattle as cows for meat and milk, horse for riding and camels for their milk and precious wool. The yaks are raised in certain regions of Mongolia more towards to the north where high mountains and cooler temperature prevail.

I felt that my fellow-WISCONSINITES they also should have the same nice, warm and light, artisan produced winter accessories from hand picked natural fiber. They should find out that the winter-gears could be LIGHTWEIGHT and SUPER WARM. And this LUXURY could be theirs at REASONABLE COSTS, too. This is how I decided to start up this website, with constant support & encouragement from my loving husband side by side to me.  Enjoy the Luxury Warmth as your Sustainable choice!
